eTel buy boosts Telekom Austria

Telekom Austria Group has reported a 3.3% rise in second-quarter revenues to EUR1.21 billion (USD1.63 billion) due to gains at the mobile segment and the acquisition of internet service provider eTel. EBITDA for the three months to the end of June fell 2.7% to EUR464.7 million, while net income was stable at EUR130.6 million. Capital expenditures rose 38.6% year-on-year to EUR209.4 million, mainly due to investments for the start-up operations in Serbia and Macedonia (FYROM). The Telekom Austria Group claimed 10.8 million wireless subscribers at the end of June, up 14% from a year before.
