SNR prepares WiMAX launch

Romania’s National Radiocommunications Company (SNR) is preparing to launch commercial WiMAX wireless broadband internet services for business users. SNR, which trades under the name Radiocom, currently provides broadcasting services plus business communications services. The firm, which owns and operates a 2,600km national radio relay network, expects turnover of EUR79 million (USD106 million) this year, up from EUR73.2 million in 2006, ACT reports. It has been testing fixed WiMAX technology since 2005.
