SKT to convert bonds into 6.6% Unicom stake

According to statements from both companies, SK Telecom (SKT) will become the second largest shareholder in China Unicom as it seeks to expand its international business. SKT’s board last night approved a proposal to convert its bond holdings – worth USD1 billion – into a 6.6% stake in the Chinese telco.
