neuf Cegetel to offer unlimited music downloads

21 Aug 2007

France’s second largest broadband provider by subscribers, neuf Cegetel, plans to offer customers unlimited music downloads from the Universal Music catalogue, one of the world’s largest record companies. It hopes the move will give it a competitive edge in the hunt for new subscribers in the high speed internet market, as well as test the water for subscribers’ appetite for digital music as a potential source of new revenues. For EUR29.90 (USD40) per month users will be able to receive a triple-play package of TV, internet access and voice telephony, plus unlimited music downloads from one of nine different music genres. Subscribers can pay an additional EUR4.99 a month for access to the entire catalogue of 150,000 songs and 3,000 video clips.
