The Czech mobile market was home to more than 12.56 million mobile phone users at the end of June 2007, up 6.7% year-on-year, and translating to a cellular penetration rate of 123 lines per 100 people. By the start of July, T-Mobile had 5.14 million users thanks to the net addition of 91,000 new customers in the first half of the year. Telefonica O2 CR added 30,000 users to lift its total to 4.89 million, while the smallest operator, Vodafone (formerly Oskar), added 112,000 net new subscribers to boost its total to 2.53 million. In revenue terms, T-Mobile lost out to Telefonica O2 which reported sales from mobile operations of CZK15.7 billion (USD760 million) in the six months under review, up 5.5% y-o-y, compared with T-Mobile’s CZK15.4 billion in revenues (+8.3%). Vodafone, meanwhile, declined to provide details of its 1H 2007 sales, but did say average revenue per user (ARPU) was CZK635, compared with CZK510 for Telefonica and CZK484 for T-Mobile.
