TEO to apply for WiMAX licence

Telecompaper reports that Lithuanian operator TEO has submitted a bid to take part in the tender for a WiMAX licence. TEC chief marketing officer Nerijus Ivanauskas said the company plans to expand the WiMAX network over ten years to attract over 164,000 new customers. Last month the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT) announced a public tender for the right to operate public communications access networks using the 3.4GHz to 3.6GHz radio frequency band, with a closing date for applications of 14 August.
