France Telecom’s mobile arm Orange is remaining tight-lipped concerning press rumours suggesting it has won the licence to sell Apple’s iPhone to the French. ‘Orange has no comment to make on the rumours about the iPhone,’ a spokeswoman for Orange said in a statement. Nonetheless, the incumbent’s share price rallied 1.5% in the wake of the news. Le Figaro newspaper cited various specialist publications as saying that Orange could launch the phone at the end of the forthcoming Apple conference in Paris at the end of next month. It went on to say that it might team up with the retail chain Fnac to boost iPhone’s distribution.
