Japanese ADSL provider ACCA Networks, is mulling plans to look for partners to help it provide WiMAX next generation broadband services, its president Masaharu Kimura said yesterday. ACCA will participate in the government’s forthcoming auction of licences for WiMAX permits and Kimura plans to formulate a business model to allow it to offer services both in its own right and as part of a partnership agreement. The latter option will, says the ACCA president, give the firm a more efficient way of raising capital to expand the service more quickly. ACCA hopes to retain a majority stake in any joint venture created as part of the bid. It envisages teaming up with ‘at least three’ partners and has a credit line of around JPY10 billion (USD 85.3 million to dedicate to WiMAX.
