German mobile TV joint venture cleared by Cartel Office

Having studied the proposal for three months, Germany’s Federal Cartel Office has raised no objections to the plans of Vodafone Germany, T-Mobile Deutschland and O2 Germany to set up a mobile television joint venture, a spokesman for the department said. The three operators plan to launch the DVB-H service at the beginning of 2008 and hope to operate a nationwide network The spokesman added that the Cartel Office will now look at antitrust aspects of the venture, with a decision in this regard expected late next month.
