Lithuanian former incumbent telco TEO LT has launched a voice plan for residential customers providing unlimited international calling for LTL25 (USD10) per month. The new service targets customers with family or friends who work abroad, in particular in the UK, where TEO LT says its customers make more than one million minutes of calls to each month. The new service will be provided using voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP). Lithuanian callers can use their fixed-line telephone to make the call, while the recipient will need to use a PC containing a VoIP software application.
At the end of June 2007 TEO LT reported a total of 788,000 fixed lines in service, and over 1,500 VoIP customers.
