Digicel files contempt of court charges against TSTT

13 Aug 2007

Pan-Caribbean cellco Digicel has filed contempt of court charges in Trinidad & Tobago’s high court against the country’s incumbent fixed line operator TSTT accusing it of violating a court order to interconnect with Digicel. The Trinidad Guardian reports TSTT was order to provide interconnection to its rival on 15 February 2007, but Digicel has argued that to date TSTT has failed to provide almost half of the capacity ordered by the court.

Digicel and TSTT have been locked in a legal dispute since Digicel entered the market in 2005. Physically the two networks have been interconnected since March 2006, but the parties have been unable to reach a final agreement regarding interconnection rates.
