CenturyTel posts 5% revenue rise

6 Aug 2007

Rural US telco CenturyTel has reported a 5% increase in operating revenues for the three months to the end of June to USD639 million, with higher sales at the internet unit helping to offset the continued decline at the traditional wireline telephony business. Net profit for the quarter fell from USD152.2 million in 2006 to USD112.3 million as a result of a USD72.4 million after-tax benefit in the year-ago period.
