Partner Communications, Israel’s second-largest mobile-phone operator by subscriber, has announced that 2Q profit rose 31% year-on-year, on the back of increased voice and data traffic. Net income rose to NIS228.1 million (USD52.95 million) from NIS174.2 million a year earlier. Revenue climbed 6.9% to NIS1.47 billion from NIS1.37 billion. EBITDA grew 9.7% to NIS519.3 million, while operating profit climbed 25% of revenue from 22.7% a year earlier. The company said it had 2.73 million active subscribers at the end of June, up 5.7% from a year earlier, giving it an estimated market share of 32%, unchanged from June 2006. The number of 3G subscribers grew by 19% compared to the previous quarter, reaching almost 400,000 at the end of June.
