MTS sees profit climb 46%

Russia’s largest cellular operator, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), has reported a first half net profit of RUB20.623 billion (USD790 million) under Russian accounting standards, up 46% from RUB14.155 billion in the same period last year. Second quarter net profit was up 49.3% to RUB12.35 billion, Interfax reports. MTS, which is majority owned by AFC Sistema, had 52.68 million subscribers across Russia at the end of June, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
