Guyana’s incumbent telecoms operator GT&T saw its mobile subscriber base grow 20% in the twelve months ended 30 June 2007 from 254,000 to 305,000 though the figure was down on 1Q 2007’s figure of 310,000. In a quarterly earnings statement by GT&T’s parent Atlantic Tele-Network, CEO Michael Prior said the company’s mobile rival Digicel had made aggressive attempts during the three months to pick up market share, efforts that had been in part successful.
