AEC invites bids for radio frequency spectrum for 3G mobile services

The Macedonian telecoms regulator, the Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC) yesterday published details on its website asking interested parties to submit an expression of interest for assignment of radio frequencies no later than 1 September 2007.

The AEC’s announcement reads: ‘Pursuant to the commitments of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for introduction of 3G IMT-2000/UMTS, as well as in accordance with the plan of radio frequencies assignment and utilisation, adopted by the Agency for Electronic Communications and posted on its website, the radio frequency bands allocated for mobile systems of 3G, IMT 20000/UMTS are not assigned yet.’

The frequency bands on offer are:

IMT-2000/UMTS (3G): o 1920MHz-1980MHz/2110MHz-2170MHz UMTS FDD o 1900MHz-1920MHz/2010MHz-2025MHz UMTS TDD o 1980MHz-2010MHz/2170MHz-2200MHz Satellite Mobile UMTS.
