Congressman Osvaldo Nemirovsci, chairman of the lower house communications committee, has told BNamericas that telephony cooperatives could gain a 7% share of the wireless market within ten years. Earlier this week regulatory body SeCom authorised local co-ops Fecotel and Fecosur to provide mobile telephony services, with the latter also allowed to provide local, long-distance and international fixed telephony services. According to official data, mobile lines in service in the country stood at 35.6 million at the end of May, up 42.2% year-on-year, while mobile traffic grew by 26.3% to 2.1 billion calls.
