KDDI to launch new discount service

19 Jul 2007

Japan’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, KDDI Corp, is launching a new discount mobile service in September, basically offering to halve its current monthly fee in an increasingly competitive mobile market. In response to rival offers from DoCoMo and Softbank Mobile, from September KDDI users will be offered the cheaper fee if they agree to sign up for a two-year contract. Existing subscribers will also be granted the new discount service automatically, the company said.
