At the end of June there were 107 million mobile subscribers in Brazil, up 6.75% compared to the end of 2006 and up 16.2% year-on-year, says the telecoms regulator Anatel. Based on a CIA World Factbook population estimate, cellular penetration in the country reached 56% at the end of June, although the year-on-year growth rate has slowed markedly and Anatel notes that the most recent monthly net additions have been among the lowest since 2003.
