Ericsson wins IMS contract with Vodafone Germany

Ericsson has signed a contract with Vodafone Germany to be the sole supplier of IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), which allows subscribers to access content and applications. Ericsson will provide gateway GPRS service nodes (GGSNs) and serving GPRS service nodes (SGSNs) and will also implement, integrate and test IMS on the cellco’s network. No financial details were given. Vodafone Germany, also known as D2, has more than 31 million subscribers and is now offering fixed broadband services, from its sister unit Arcor, to its mobile customer base.
