17 Jul 2007

Russian integrated communications provider Golden Telecom, Finnish vendor Nokia and mobile phone retailer Betalink have launched a joint pilot project, ‘Call via Golden WiFi’, available free via an access card to customers who buy the Nokia E65 ‘business phone’ until 15 October at Betalink retail outlets in Moscow. Based on VoIP technology, the pilot service allows unlimited calls to fixed line numbers in Moscow and mobile numbers in the Moscow region. Golden Telecom plans to offer an expanded version of the service on a commercial basis in the near future. Also announced this week, Golden has opened its own retail outlet in Moscow, in line with a strategy to expand into the consumer market.
