BNamericas, quoting newspaper El Cronista, reports that Argentina’s Secretaría de Comunicaciones (SeCom) has awarded local ISP Sion a license to provide local and international fixed telephony services. Sion currently provides broadband and dial-up internet services in Buenos Aires. The company has not yet made a business plan for its telephony services, nor has it said which technology it will employ. CEO Luis Quinelli said that two possibilities would be to launch telephony services via an internet platform or rent infrastructure from an established operator.
