Virgin Mobile completes infrastructure upgrade to support 3G

11 Jul 2007

Virgin Mobile has completed an infrastructure upgrade to support aggressive growth plans for its 3G network in Australia and New Zealand. As part of the upgrade, IT services firm Tripoint Corporation installed a number of Hewlett Packard’s Itanium-based servers. The AUD1.3 million contract involved decommissioning redundant equipment, which previously housed some of Virgin Mobile’s business critical systems. Virgin Mobile expects to switch to its own infrastructure environment by the end of the month.
