Lithuanian regulator issues tender

The Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT) has announced a public tender for the right to operate public communications access networks using the 3.4GHz to 3.6GHz radio frequency band. The closing date for tenders is 14 August 2007, and the registration fee is LTL2822 (USD1116). The winner will be chosen via a beauty contest, and the licence will run for 15 years. The concession will be awarded on the proviso that the winner sets up a network covering half the population of three different cities within two years, half the population of a further two cities within five years, and 90% of the whole Lithuanian population within ten years.
