Vodafone first to reduce cost of fixed-to-mobile calls

10 Jul 2007

In the wake of the New Zealand government’s reduction of mobile termination rates, Vodafone has declared itself the first company to lower the price of making a call from a landline to a mobile, for its ihug home phone customers. From 1 July, ihug customers have been making calls from their home phones to mobiles at the lower rate of NZF39 per minute, which it claims is one of the cheapest in New Zealand. ‘Vodafone was already offering businesses the lowest land to mobile rate available with their new business rate calling plan, but for consumers this is now the cheapest, most widely available price,’ says ihug’s chief executive Mark Rushworth.
