UOL inks deal with Transit to support VoIP launch

Brazilian internet services provider Universo Online (UOL) has launched a VoIP service thanks to a partnership deal with fixed line operator Transit Telecom, reports BNamericas. Under the deal Transit Telecom, which formed a partnership with VoIP company Skype at the start of 2006, will provide its network to interconnect with other operators so that UOL’s VoIP customers can make and receive international and local calls. UOL has 1.6 million subscribers for internet access.
