ISPs want an end to monopoly

9 Jul 2007

Paraguay’s internet association COIT has asked the government to put an end to state-run operator Copaco’s monopoly of internet services, BNamericas reports quoting local daily ABC. According to COIT members, due to the monopoly only 3.5% of the country’s population has access to internet services, resulting in the lowest internet penetration in South America. COIT is asking the government to sign a decree to allow new competition to enter the internet services market.
