Vodacom Tanzania launches mobile e-mail

5 Jul 2007

As from today, Vodacom Tanzania customers can access e-mails from their handset, without purchasing new devices providing their handset is e-mail enabled, the operator’s Communications Manager Jacqueline Namfua said in a statement yesterday. The new service is apparently targeted at the business sector in Tanzania. The company hopes the addition of the new service will increase productivity by giving employees access to e-mails while on the move. Vodacom users in the capital Dar es Salaam can download e-mails via the cellco’s HSDPA network, while those in other parts of the country can use its GPRS and EDGE technology.
