Swedish regulator PTS has invited registrations for a web-based auction in November to assign 1,160 regional wireless broadband licences in the 3.6GHz-3.8GHz band. Last date for registration and payment of a deposit is 10 September. PTS is offering four licences per municipality; two FDD licences of 2×20MHz each and two TDD licences of 40MHz each. The concessions are technology and service-neutral and do not contain any rollout obligations. The regulator said in a statement that the purpose of the assignment is to create opportunities for operators to build high speed networks, and to increase competition in the broadband market, with a long-term objective of improving access to services for all Swedish users.
