Anti-trust authorities rubber stamp neuf’s T-Online France acquisition

2 Jul 2007

French anti-trust authorities have completed their review of the sale of Deutsche Telekom-owned ISP T-Online France (Club Internet) to neuf Cegetel, and approved the transaction. The deal has now been finalised and closed. The German firm took the decision to offload the French unit as part of its wider strategy to ‘focus, fix and grow’ its core business interests. The plan was first announced to the public by its CEO, Rene Obermann, on 1 March 2007.

In a separate story, neuf Cegetel has revealed it has selected Time Warner Inc’s AOL to supply content and services to its internet portals for the general public. As of 1 July all neuf Cegetel’s two million-plus broadband subscribers now have access to AOL content and services from their new home pages ‘Neuf avec AOL’ and ‘Cegetel avec AOL’. No financial details were disclosed.
