Telekom borrows EUR100 million to upgrade network

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved the first part of a EUR100 million (USD135 million) loan to Telekom Slovenije, reports the Slovenian Press Agency. The former monopoly telco has earmarked the EUR40 million tranche for upgrading its fixed line telephony network, modernising its fibre-optic backbone, adding new support systems as well as rolling out additional DSL infrastructure. The second part of the loan is expected to be approved in August.
