T-Mobile expands fixed-mobile service nationwide

27 Jun 2007

T-Mobile USA has expanded its ‘Hotspot @Home’ combined cellular and Wi-Fi service to all its 8,500 wireless LAN hotspots nationwide. Until now the service has been undergoing trials with a limited number of users in Washington state. Hotspot @Home allows T-Mobile cellular customers to use combined Wi-Fi/GSM phones to get high speed internet access when within range of a T-Mobile hotspot or their home Wi-Fi network; the phone acts as a conventional GSM handset in other areas. Handsets are retailing at USD49.99 when purchased as part of a two-year contract. The service is currently being offered for a limited time at USD9.99 on top of the normal monthly cellular tariff.
