In an interview with Dow Jones Newswires, PLDT President Napoleon Nazareno revealed that he expects third quarter profitability to be better this year than the group’s usual performance during this quarter. Nazareno stated that increased spending associated with the congressional and local elections in May, a new strategy to grow market share using specifically targeted campaigns for certain segments, and a buoyant economy are all helping to boost results. ‘All three factors are leading us to believe that the third quarter, which is normally low before it kicks up in the fourth, might be better. It will still be lower compared to the first and second but it will be much better than last year,’ Nazareno said.
