Orange launches 3.5G

Orange Romania has launched its first HSDPA 3.5G services in ten cities. The new high speed service offers downloads at theoretical peak rates of 3.6Mbps, and is available to both business and private users in Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Brasov, Craiova, Iasi, Oradea, Galati and Ploiesti. Orange says it has invested EUR30 million in its 3G/3.5G rollout in Romania. It is the country’s largest cellular operator with 8.27 million subscribers and a 45% market share at the end of March, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
