Personal, the mobile arm of telco Telecom Argentina, expects to have a million customers using 3G services within two years, reports BNamericas, quoting the company’s marketing director Guillermo Rivaben. The company recently launched a HSDPA-enabled W-CDMA network in parts of Buenos Aires and expects to expand coverage to the whole of the city as well as the cities of Córdoba and Rosario by the end of the year, then to all provincial capitals within two years. The 3G launch is part of a ARS500 million (USD162 million) investment programme announced by the company last November to offer 3G nationwide. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Personal is Argentina’s leading cellco by subscribers, and reported its nine millionth customer in the first quarter of this year.
