Russia’s mobile market will be worth USD34.1 billion a year by 2012 according to forecasts from Leonid Melamed, president of the country’s largest cellco, MTS. The market was worth an estimated USD14.7 billion in 2006, with USD12.5 billion of this coming from voice services. Voice calls will account for around USD26.5 billion annually within five years, Melamed suggests. He expects voice services to remain the main driver of growth at MTS for at least the next three years, Interfax reports.
