Ericsson reports it has won an order from Malaysian mobile operator Maxis Communications to expand and upgrade its W-CDMA/HSPA network to provide wireless residential broadband services to major cities and towns in the country. No financial details were disclosed. Under the agreement, Ericsson will supply, integrate and deploy radio access network equipment, including its latest HSPA software, enabling speeds of up to 14.4Mbps in the downlink and up to 1.4Mbps in the uplink. Implementation has commenced and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
