Oi Conta Total users top 318k mark in May

Brazilian fixed line telco Oi (the new brand name of Telemar) had 318,000 customers to its Oi Conta Total bundled service of internet, fixed line, mobile and long-distance telephony in May, writes BNamericas quoting João Silvera, Oi’s retail marketing director. Oi launched the new service in June 2006 and expects to sign up more than 400,000 users by end-2007, up from 212,000 at the start of the year. Oi sees its bundled package as a key tool in the battle to secure market share as fixed-mobile convergence begins to play an increasing role in the domestic market. ‘We believe that by offering our full range of services we can differentiate ourselves from the competition… As a single provider of services, we can use many doors to get into peoples’ homes,’ Silvera said.
