Inquam buys WiMAX Telecom

The parent company of Austrian wireless broadband operator WiMAX Telecom is having a majority stake acquired by German wireless ISP Inquam Broadband. Inquam has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a 65% controlling interest in WiMAX Telecom, which also has operations in Slovakia, and a WiMAX licence in Croatia. Inquam Broadband, which is owned by wireless equipment manufacturer NextWave, holds WiMAX licences in Germany and Switzerland. Financial details were not disclosed. WiMAX Telecom currently serves around 8,500 customers over its 3.5GHz 802.16-2004 fixed WiMAX networks in Austria and Slovakia.
