TRA: Only du and Etisalat will be allowed to offer VoIP

Mohamed Al Ghanim, director general of the United Arab Emirates Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), has reiterated that the provision of voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services will remain the exclusive domain of Etisalat and du . The TRA made itself clear on the subject last November, but a recent press release was widely misinterpreted leading to speculation that the VoIP market would be opened up to all companies, prompting the regulator to clarify its position on the technology.
