14 Jun 2007

Airspan Networks has announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Polish alternative telecoms operator Multimedia Polska to expand its network using WiMAX technology. Airspan’s HiperMAX and MicroMAX base stations and customer premises equipment will enable Multimedia Polska to enhance its customer offerings by delivering broadband triple-play services to a wide customer base in both urban and suburban regions throughout Poland.

Multimedia Polska is one of Poland’s larger cablcos; at the end of March 2007 it provided its services to more than 600,000 customers (850,000 revenue generating units) offering a portfolio of cable TV (analogue and digital, including high-definition TV), internet and telephony services. Multimedia is planning to launch video on demand (VoD) and mobile services as a virtual operator (MVNO) later this year.
