Woosh welcomes WiMAX sale

The New Zealand wireless ISP Woosh Wireless says it has welcomed the government’s decision to auction six blocks of 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz spectrum for WiMAX services. The operator said in a statement that the auction, which is expected in December, ‘will ensure the emergence of true infrastructure competition in broadband’. It goes on to state: ‘Woosh applauds the government’s decision to ensure that no single player will be able to buy more than one 30MHz block of spectrum, thereby ensuring competition.’
