Swedish telco Tele2 is working with Nokia Siemens Networks to build a pan-European Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network with capacity of 40Gbps. The fibre-optic rollout is aimed at bolstering Tele2’s existing IP backbone network, adding new links to major central European telecoms nodes, and enabling Tele2 to offer new IP-based services and enhance its transmission capacity. Deployment of the network started earlier this quarter.
