Irish mobile operator O2 Ireland reported revenue of EUR224 million (USD299.4 million) for the period from 1 January to March 31, 2007, up 1.1% year-on-year on rising customer numbers and increased SMS volumes. By the start of April this year the operator had 1.633 million mobile customers, up 2.5% y-o-y to its highest ever level. O2 Ireland said the number of text messages sent in the first three months of the year stood at 428 million, representing a 13.8% rise on the 376 million recorded in the same period of 2006.
