11 Jun 2007

China Mobile signed a USD1 billion network contract with Ericsson over the weekend. Under the agreement, signed at a ceremony in Sweden on Sunday that was attended by Chinese President Hu Jintao and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Ericsson will supply core and network equipment, along with related technical support and services, to expand China Mobile’s GSM coverage in 19 regions in China. The expansion project will allow China Mobile to extend its network capacity and create new revenue streams from data and voice call services. Ericsson has already started deliveries on the contract.
