Belarus’ national fixed line operator Beltelecom has lit a second fibre-optic junction on the Belarus-Russia border, writes online news portal e-belarus.org. On 25 May the company put the new junction into commercial operation. It uses DWDM equipment and has initial capacity of 10Gbps (STM-64), upgradeable to 200Gbps. To date Beltelcom has deployed ten fibre-optic junctions at the borders with all its neighbours – Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
