India equipment market growing strongly

A recent survey conducted by Voice and Data magazine has revealed that India’s telecom equipment market grew by 43.5% to USD18.8 billion in the year ending 31 March 2007, with mobile and fixed line handsets business expanding by 45%. Carrier equipment contributed 55% to the overall market, while the share of handsets and enterprise equipment stood at 30% and 14% respectively. The survey went on to reveal that Nokia retained its number one position in the mobile handset market with a 54% market share, followed by Ericsson and Motorola.
