Telefónica plans to invest USD9.4 million in Córdoba this year

BNamericas reports that Argentine telecoms operator Telefónica de Argentina (TAR) said in a statement that it plans to invest ARS29 million (USD9.4 million) in Córdoba province this year, out of a total nationwide spend for 2007 of ARS1.6 billion. ARS22 million is expected to be set aside for expanding cellular infrastructure, with the remainder going on improving the fixed line network, and launching new services. Movistar Argentina, Telefónica de Argentina’s mobile arm, is the leading domestic cellco, claiming close to 11.7 million subscribers at the end of March 2007.
