Worker's union calls for TTST audit

31 May 2007

The Trinidad Express, quoted by BNamericas, reports that Trinidad & Tobago’s Communications Workers Union (CWU) has called for a financial audit of incumbent telco TSTT covering the last ten years following the operator’s warning last week that it expects to post its first ever loss. CWU was reported as saying that TSTT was trying to pin part of the loss on the ‘illegal activities of allegedly 72 members of staff’. The Trinidad Express quotes CWU’s acting president John Julien as saying he believes that undisciplined overspending was probably the most important factor, not employee-based fraud.
