CDMA2000 subscribers break ten million barrier in Indonesia

The total number of 3G CDMA2000 subscribers to Indonesia’s six CDMA operators has passed the ten-million mark, says the CDMA Development Group (CDG). In a briefing with the six companies, the CDG noted that with only 36% of the 66,778 villages in the country using some form of telecom services, the potential growth rate for CDMA is huge – estimated at 64% CAGR. The six CDMA operators are: Bakrie Telecom (1x and EV-DO commercial deployments); Indosat (1x and EV-DO commercial deployments); Mobile-8 (1x and EV-DO commercial deployments); Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (1x commercial deployment); Telkom Indonesia (1x commercial deployment), and Smart Telecom, formerly known as Sinar Mas Group, Indoprima Mikroselindo (1x yet to launch).
